Our mail-in dry cleaning process starts with an estimate, followed by shipping, arrival contact, cleaning and a carefully packaged return.

Step 1: Contact us and tell us about your garments

Request an online estimate with photos, or ask about a video consultation with a CleanByMail specialist. Tell us about the fabric and construction, along with stains or previous treatment. If you're unsure how to pack a delicate or structured piece, contact us first.

Step 2: Pack and ship your items

Step 3: Inspection, cleaning and finishing

We'll contact you when your items arrive to review the order. Once we receive your order and verified credit card information, work begins. We assess each piece to choose appropriate care.

Step 4: Safe return to your door

We carefully pack your finished items in our custom-developed shipping containers. We use UPS Ground for return shipping unless otherwise specified. Include your delivery preferences and declared value on your form.

Yes, we offer specialty care for delicate and designer garments and assess every piece before choosing a method. We won't promise a particular outcome without examining your item. Fabric alone doesn't tell the whole story.

Silk and satin

With silk, we consider its vulnerability to water spotting and color loss. With satin, we also watch for changes in surface texture or sheen. Satin describes a weave, not a single fiber, so we consider both composition and construction.

Cashmere and fine wool

We handle cashmere and wool with attention to moisture, heat and agitation, which can cause shrinkage or loss of shape. When addressing pilling, we take care to avoid unnecessary stress on fine fibers. Our knit services include cleaning, blocking and reknitting.

Beaded, embellished and structured designer pieces

We treat wine, oil and ink stains with specialist techniques, but results depend on the fabric, the stain's source and age, and previous treatment. We assess each stain before discussing what's possible. Complete removal isn't something we'll promise.

Why home remedies can make stains harder to treat

We inspect your items on arrival, handle them carefully and use protective return packaging, while helping you understand shipping protection before you send them.

Protective packaging for the return trip

We use custom-developed shipping boxes and containers to protect finished garments on their return trip. Complimentary UPS ground shipping and insurance apply to orders with a $250 minimum service charge; exclusions apply.

How much does it cost, and how long will it take?

We base cost and timing on your garments, their care needs and your shipping location, and provide a clear estimate before work begins.

Your CleanByMail cleaning prices match our regular over-the-counter or delivery prices. CleanByMail has no minimum order; a $5 handling surcharge per order plus shipping applies, and turnaround runs about three days longer than over-the-counter service, plus shipping time.
